Diwali!

This week we have been celebrating Diwali, the festival of light. Mrs Raj came in and talked to us about the way that the festival is celebrated in India and we watched some videos about the story of Diwali. It was great to learn more about a different culture and religion.

Miss Stone asked us to create some Rangoli patterns. Traditionally these are made out of coloured sand and they are used to decorate the entrance to a house. We used felts instead, but we did place our finished designs on the door to our classroom! We also got to try some Indian sweets that Mrs Nath made. These reminded us a bit of donuts as we could taste pastry, butter and sugar.

  1. Wow I love how you are describing what happened and why. They kind of look like Mandela art. Maybe you could add a video or slide show to show the rest of the classes art.
