Toothpaste?

Today in PB4L,  room 8 had a class discussion about our class routines and roles and whether we wanted to change anything. We then had a discussion about the importance of using kind. Sometimes we can joke about something, or say something without thinking about it which can lead to us hurting other peoples feelings.

To illustrate this, we squeezed toothpaste out of a tube and onto a piece of card. We each took a turn and found it pretty simple to squeeze the toothpaste out - it was also quite fun!

However, when Miss Stone asked us to put it back we really struggled. Each group tried different weird and wonderful strategies, but it was impossible to get all of the toothpaste back in the tube. This illustrated the fact that it is easy to say something to someone, but very difficult to take our words back. This message prompted some great discussion about what we can and cannot take back.

  1. Kia ora Room 8,
Thank you for sharing. What a great strategy Miss Stone had with the toothpaste to make you think about how hard it is to take your words back. I am sure it will stick in your head and remind you about the importance of only saying kind things to people. I remember when I was young both my Nana and my Mum would always say, 'only speak if you have something nice to say'. Have you heard that saying before?
